Maki Placemat - Beige

Handmade in Tamil Nadu, India

  •

Crafted by the Lambadis of Tamil Nadu

A modern interpretation of traditional Lambadi flower motifs, the concentric rows of maki stitches come together to create both larger and smaller patterns. Available in several color combinations these linen placemats are perfect for both casual and formal settings. Patience and consistency are required on the part of the artisan to ensure symmetry of design.

Match these with our Maki Napkins and Maki Coasters for a well styled table.

It takes a several days to complete each piece. While the design and technique are the same, each artisan has her own way of applying each stitch, making each piece unique in its own special way.

The Lambadi artisans are part of a group of around 50 women. Each woman works out of the comfort of her own home, allowing her to maintain a work-life balance.
