Small Petal Throw Pillow

On this throw pillow embroidery is used to replicate a design which we had seen in a traditional appliqué craft form. Appliqué work, in combination with other forms of stitches and embellishments would have traditionally been used in several parts of India to decorate marriage costumes, wall hangings and quilts. The open stitch technique gives the petal cushion cover a lighter feel.   

One of several pieces we created using this traditional petal form, it looks great styled together with our Multiple Petal Throw Pillow and Rectangular Petal Throw Pillow. 

It takes a several days to complete each piece. While the design and technique are the same, each artisan has her own way of applying each stitch, making each piece unique in its own special way.
